Sarah Ennis: A Rising Star in Irish Eventing and Ambassador of N7

In the world of Irish equestrian sports, few names resonate as strongly as Sarah Ennis. This talented Irish eventer has not only showcased her skills on the international stage but has also become an inspiring figure in the eventing community. In this post, we’ll explore Sarah’s journey, her major achievements, and her aspirations for the future.

Known for her skill, determination, and partnership with top-level horses, Sarah is a key figure in Irish equestrianism. Despite facing challenges like the withdrawal of her horse Action Lady M at the 2024 Olympics, she remains one of the sport’s most respected competitors with a bright future ahead, as she continues to compete on the world stage.

N7 Commercial Centre is proud to have Sarah, a world-class Olympic-level event rider as an ambassador.

Journey to Success

Sarah Ennis’s journey to success in eventing has been marked by perseverance, skill, and consistent performance at the highest levels of the sport. Sarah’s passion for horses began at a young age in Howth, Ireland. Growing up in a horse-loving family, she quickly developed her skills in riding and training. Her Mother Orla adored horses and passed this love on to Sarah. Growing up she was involved in the Ward Union and Howth Pony Clubs as well as the Irish Pony Society. This gave her an insight into all areas of equestrianism. Her early experiences laid the foundation for what would become a remarkable career in eventing, a sport that combines dressage, cross-country, and show jumping.

Major Achievements

Sarah has represented Ireland on the world stage many times. She has competed in several prestigious events including the World Equestrian Games, the Olympics, the European Championships and the Badminton Horse Trials. Her career highlights include winning a silver medal with the Irish team (and coming 5th individually) at the 2018 World Equestrian Games, as well as coming 4th with the Irish team (and 7th individually) during the 2017 European Championships.

In 2024, Sarah travelled to Paris for the 2024 Olympics. As ambassador of the N7 Commercial Centre and Overlander Vehicles, Sarah travelled in style in the Overlander R240 – seen here on Instagram. Olympic-level equestrians like Sarah Ennis require top-quality horse transportation like the Overlander R240 2-Stall Horsebox for several critical reasons:

  • Safety and Comfort: Horses are sensitive animals, and travel stress can negatively impact their performance. Ensuring a calm, comfortable environment during transportation is essential to keeping them in peak condition. The Overlander R240 is designed with a high-quality suspension system and low centre of gravity, ensuring a smooth, stable ride even on long journeys.
  • Health Concerns: Horses are prone to health risks during travel, such as respiratory problems and dehydration. The Overlander R240 horsebox comes equipped with excellent ventilation and climate control systems, which help maintain a consistent and comfortable environment for the horses.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Olympic athletes need to adhere to stringent transportation regulations, including health checks and customs procedures for their horses. The Overlander R240 is built to meet the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance, making it a reliable choice for international travel.

In the 2024 Olympics, Sarah competed with her horse, Action Lady M. After a strong cross-country phase, where she managed a clear round with only time penalties, Sarah stood in 29th place individually. Unfortunately, on the final day of the eventing competition, she had to withdraw Action Lady M before the show jumping phase due to an injury.

Future Aspirations

Sarah Ennis has a bright future in eventing. With her proven ability to compete internationally and her deep understanding of the sport, she is expected to remain a key figure in Irish eventing and a competitor in future global championships. She has demonstrated her resilience and skill over the years, with her many significant achievements. She will likely continue competing in international eventing competitions, such as the FEI World Equestrian Games and European Championships, as well as prominent 4* and 5* events like Badminton horse trials and Burghley Horse Trials. Given her extensive experience and previous successes, her focus will undoubtedly remain on maintaining her competitive edge with top horses and striving for strong finishes in upcoming major events.
